Q: I can check a Readout fluctuation on the ARSWIN, however the Control Unit seems to be stable. It causes the ARSWIN changes some degrees the antenna position?

A: It was detected last year (2001) by Peter - WB3FSR. He was using a HAMIV and the ARSWIN. When he pressed the Break Button at the Control Unit, he could appreciate a fluctuation on the ARSWIN. After several tests, we realized that the fluctuation was due by the Solenoid Voltage (AC signal) that was inducted on the Voltage feedback. This signal was 60 Hz (USA main power) and was not completely rejected by the filters included at the RCI Board. I re-designed a new low pass filter, and Peter did the modifications I suggested at his RCI Unit. The AC signal was rejected completely. Actually all RCI Boards include this new low pass filter, but any previous hardware versions can fix it, so download the bellow document and change those 4 components:

  • R9, P3
  • C4, C5

And the fluctuation will be fixed....

This new filter provides:

  • -33.83 dB attenuation for any signal at 50Hz, or
  • -36.83 dB attenuation for any signal at 60Hz
